What Are Crow’s Feet and How to Treat Them?

Crow’s feet are the tiny, fan-like wrinkles at the edges of our eyes. These little wrinkles can appear more pronounced by an expressive face or frequent squinting in the sun. If you make a ton of facial expressions or you spend a lot of time squinting, you may notice more pronounced these crow’s feet around your eyes.

What Causes Crow’s Feet

The thinnest skin on our entire body is the skin on and around our eyelids. This skin can become easily dehydrated in day-to-day life. However, it can be hydrated almost instantly if you know how.

There is a lot of soft tissue around our eyes and within our orbital bones that can become stretched out when inflamed. It can be hard to bounce back from this. A lifetime of sunburns, allergies, food reactions, and reactions to synthetic perfumes, laundry detergents, preservatives, and even natural essential oils can take a toll over a lifetime.

How to Treat Crow’s Feet

The first step to treating crow’s feet is to remove exposure to as many of these causes as possible. Avoid synthetic, irritating products in your household. Stop using all essential oils (except true rose oil) on our faces as these are intensely irritating.  Stop using conventional skin care products, including popular treatments like lasers, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Chemical- and trauma-based procedures only deplete, irritate, dehydrate, and harm our skin.

Makeup and sunscreen can help slow the formation of crow’s feet, as they both offer protection from the UV rays that cause dehydration.  Don’t skip spf.  Oh, and always, always wear sunglasses when you are driving, near glass windows, or on a hike.

Managing and reducing skin inflammation, in general, is a good idea for everyone, and it can improve crow’s feet, too. Finding skin care products that soothe, hydrate, and protect our eyes, as well as our overall skin, is essential to treating crow’s feet. The sooner we discover this, the better, because skin aging begins somewhere in our twenties.
